Skin Care Review: Day Skin Care Routine for Dry Skin

Hello lovelies!✨

How are you?

Today, I’m sharing my daily day time skin care routine~

But before I begin, here’s a little about my skin condition… 🤔

I have really dry skin despite it being so humid and warm here in sunny Singapore. It ain’t a pretty sight when I apply on makeup, even with those products that claim to have high moisturising properties. Foundation just FLAKE away like snow falling from the winter sky…☹️☹️  Having tried many dry-skin combination moisturisers, my skin condition not only NOT improved, but I also experience the invasion of milia near my eyes! 🙄😱  These products were often too greasy!! Using normal combination skincare products don’t help much either. After trying many more products, I finally found the ones that are most suited for my dry skin. I now don’t have to worry about flaking/blotching skin anymore. 😋 My skin is more refined, moisturised and supple, and that really boosted my confidence! (and helps my makeup stay on more flawlessly.)

Without delaying, lets go into my current daily skincare regiment!

I adopt a 3-step skin care routine after cleansing.

Step 1: Cleanse – CLINIQUE Sonic System: Purifying Cleansing Brush + Clinique Foaming Facial Soap  ….. Read more HERE (Includes a detailed review)!

Next few steps involve the basic 3-step skin care: Toner-Essence-Moisturizer

Step 2: Tone CLINIQUE Turnaround Revitalising Lotion (SGD59, 200ml)

What is it?

  • Alcohol-free
  • Oil-Free
  • Fragrance-free
  • Light-weight
  • Infuses skin with energy and essential hydration.
  • Boost skin, giving plump, fresh, glowing finish
  • For all skin types

My thoughts?

Unlike other toners, this lotion doesn’t leave a stingy or tight sensation on the skin. Don’t be fooled (like I was!) by this clear formula. This magical lotion leaves my skin feeling so much softer, immediately after my first use (Per use, I simply squeeze 3 drops to apply on entire face. Then, I do a little massage on the skin to ensure all product is absorbed). Having tried this lotion daily for a couple of weeks  my skin is definitely more supple than before. The product claims to restore radiance, and I feel it delivers what it promises! ✨✨

Where to buy?

Online Exclusive from Tangs (I found this posted today!):

Step 3: Essence – CLINIQUE Even Better Essence Lotion (1, 2: Very Dry to Dry Combination Skins) (2 sizes: SGD55 for 100ml, SGD66 for 200ml)

What is it?

  • Alcohol-free
  • Fragrance-free
  • Light-weight
  • Contains a new complex to increase production of essential building blocks of skin’s natural moisturising factors
  • Contains beneficial antioxidants and anti-irritants
  • Improve overall clarity and luminosity of skin
  • Available in 2 formulations:
    • 1,2 for dry to very-dry skin types
    • 3,4 for combination to oily skin types

My thoughts?

The Even Better line of skincare product targets skin tone correction through hydrating, brightening and calming the skin. Indeed, I feel that my skin has become clearer and more radiant after weeks of trying this product. Although the formula is a gel-like emulsion which seems thick and glue-y, it glides on smoothly and non-greasy. Can’t think of any cons!  🙆

Where to buy?

  • Retail: All Clinique Counters (IsetanTangs, Takashimaya).
    • Sadly, Sephora Retail only carry the 3,4 combination for oily skin type, and only in the smaller size 100ml too.
  • Online: Tangs

Step 4: Moisturise – ESTEE LAUDER Hydrationist Maximum Moisture Creme (USD48, 1.7oz)

What is it?

  • Day-Moisturiser
  • All-day intense hydration
  • Boosts moisture through day, resist look of aging
  • Reliefs dullness and loss of radiance
  • 2 Formulations:
    • Normal/Combinations skin type
    • Dry skin type

Adapted from Estee Lauder:

“Tested and Proven: 100% of women experienced a dramatic moisture boost, instantly and throughout the day.

Over time, skin’s moisture barrier is strengthened by 50%*. With our exclusive Sustainable Moisture Complex™, Hydrationist leaves skin youthful and healthy looking. Soft, silky smooth and super hydrated.

The Normal/Combination skin creme is refreshingly lightweight, silky. The luscious Dry Skin creme comforts and cushions skin.

(*After just 4 weeks of use)”

My thoughts?

My past experiences with moisturisers for dry-skin weren’t good ones, they were often too thick and oily… The Hydrationist works exceptionally well for me! It feels light-weighted and non-greasy. My skin feels soft and instantly hydrated after application. Just a tiny amount is all I need for full face application. The formula glides on easily too (See swatch below…) Best part, this moisturiser doesn’t cause me to breakout!

Where to buy?

  • Got this as a gift.
  • Oddly, I can’t seem to find it on Estee Lauder Website, Singapore! 😦
  • Its available on the US Website though!
Swatches of my skin care products:
Look at how flow-y they are! All are light-weighted and feels non-gresy on the face 🙂

So I’ve ended my post on my daily skin care routine to combat my dry and dull skin 🙋🏻 Always remember, good skin is the best base to a flawless makeup look! (Even my puppy agrees 🐶😝 Meet Teddy! My little baby!!)

It takes several trials (and luck) to finding the products that suit you best~ Don’t get flustered, be patient! I hope my post helps~
